GS Global Academy was founded on a simple idea: a student’s postal code should never decide how far their education can take them.
To offer honest guidance, patient mentorship, and practical support to students and families in Pune and beyond, so that the right information and the right help are within reach for anyone ready to take the step.
GS Global Academy was founded by Ganesh Shirsath, an educator from Sonai, a village near Shani Shingnapur in Maharashtra.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Pravara College, he wanted to pursue a Master’s abroad. He ran into the same three walls that stop most first-generation applicants: limited resources, almost no reliable information about how the process actually worked, and no one nearby who had done it before to show him the way.
He couldn’t make it happen for himself. So he built a career instead, spending 20+ years inside India’s education sector counselling students directly rather than sitting behind an administrative desk.
Every year in that work, he saw his own story repeat in front of him: capable students from rural and underserved backgrounds with no real route to a global education. Not because they weren’t good enough, but because no one had shown them the route.
GS Global Academy is that route. It’s the guidance system Ganesh Shirsath wishes he’d had at 21.
Getting into a university overseas isn’t really about test scores or paperwork. It’s about having someone who’s already walked the path tell you which parts actually matter and which parts are just noise.
I didn’t have that person when I needed one. I chose a different path in India instead, and I don’t regret it. But I never stopped thinking about the students who were exactly where I was: capable, motivated, and stuck for no better reason than a lack of guidance.
That’s the only reason GS Global Academy exists. Not to process applications, but to sit with a student, understand where they actually stand, and build a plan around them instead of around a template.
